Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Mundito Spanish collects, how we use it, and the rights you have as a parent or student. We respect your privacy and only collect information that is necessary to operate our programs.

Information We Collect

When you create an account or register for a program, we collect:

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, and account password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
  • Mailing address: street, city, state, and ZIP. Collected so we can mail birthday cards to enrolled students; not used for any other marketing.
  • Student information: name, date of birth, grade level, Spanish proficiency, medical conditions, dietary restrictions, special needs, and emergency contact details.
  • Payment information: card details are entered directly into Stripe and never touch our servers; we store only the Stripe payment identifier and the amount charged.
  • Usage information: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages viewed) used for security and debugging.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate registrations, billing, attendance, and program logistics.
  • Send transactional emails such as confirmations, receipts, schedule updates, and program reminders.
  • Mail birthday cards to enrolled students using the address on file.
  • Send broadcast emails such as newsletters and announcements (only with your consent; unsubscribe at any time).
  • Respond to inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the school:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Postmark — transactional and broadcast email delivery.
  • Hosting providers — secure infrastructure for the registration system.
  • Teachers and program staff — access to the rosters and information necessary to run their programs.

We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our policies, or to protect the safety of students, staff, or the public.

Data Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information: encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted database backups, hashed passwords, and access controls limiting which staff can view sensitive data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimize risk and respond quickly to any incident.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • View and update your account and student information through your dashboard.
  • Request a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated student profiles, subject to legal and accounting record-keeping requirements.
  • Opt out of broadcast emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email.

Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies for essential site functions: keeping you logged in, remembering your dark-mode preference, and protecting against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Children's Privacy

Mundito Spanish provides programs for children. Accounts may only be created by a parent or legal guardian; students themselves do not create accounts or interact with our system directly. Information about students is provided by the parent and is used solely to operate the program in which the student is enrolled.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and posted at the top of this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
